Update from Jackson Publick on New Venture Brothers Season 5 and hints to a Season 6

Posted on: December 30, 2012

Here is the latest from Publick’s own Blog:

Hello again…

A belated “Merry Christmas” to you all, and a preemptive “Happy New Year.” Apologies for not offering up a Venture Christmas song this season, but we converted to Mayanism earlier this year, so we no longer believed in Christmas and fully believed the world would end on December 21st. Also, we were super-busy with post-production on The Venture Bros. Season 5, as well as with decorating our giant stone calendar and practicing human head soccer.

So now it’s back to post-production. Here’s where we currently stand with the season: We’ve already delivered half of the fully finished episodes to the network, and the rest are in various states of post-production. This week we received the rough cut of the final episode from Korea (which is actually the second half of what will be our premiere episode) so I’m spending the day scouring it for errors and typing up retakes notes. Then tonight I’m headed to a final sound mix session for the 6th episode. We’ll finish the picture edit for the 7th episode a day or two into the new year and turn it over to our sound engineer, then move on to editing the 8th episode.

Since we’re idiots who decided to write and produce our hour-long premiere episode last, we can’t start airing until the last episode is finished. I don’t currently know exactly when our premiere date is. I’ve heard it could be as soon as mid-March or as late as early May, but we’re racing to get that premiere special done in time for March.

And now that I’ve seen all of the episodes in one form or another, I can truthfully say it’s going to be a great season. The crew in every department of the production really stepped up their game (and new crew members brought new game)–the show’s never looked or sounded better. And as writers, Doc and I hit a really great, confident stride that, I think, combines some of the best qualities of seasons past with a uniquely season 5 freshness. A good mix of new characters and old (some of which haven’t been seen in quite a while), high adventure in exotic locations and internal strife on the home front. You will like it!

(Incidentally, the guest voices this season include J.K. Simmons, Larry Murphy, Paget Brewster, John Hodgman, Wyatt Cenac, Tim Meadows, Gillian Jacobs, Bill Hader, and the kicking-ass-on-SNL-this-season Kate McKinnon!)

We’re also looking ahead to next season. Doc and I have big plans for season 6 and are champing at the bit to get started writing it. But first we have to write the script for our proposed long-form Venture Bros. special. We’ve got a pretty epic story planned, involving an epic number of cast members in an epic setting, so it’s a pretty epic task ahead of us. The story will bridge seasons 5 & 6, so our mission is to tie up a lot of threads from season 5 (and 4, and 3…) and start a few new ones in the process. The sooner we write that, the sooner we’ll write season 6–and the sooner we do all this writing, the sooner we’ll be back on the air. My hope, as always, is to tighten that interminable gap between seasons–because I don’t like waiting to show you new Venture Bros. any more than you like waiting to see new Venture Bros. So wish us luck…

There you have it more Venture Brothers coming your way, GO TEAM VENTURE!!!

Four Horsemen Studios will re-create the POWER LORDS

Posted on: December 25, 2012
Four Horsemen

The Four Horsemen Studios are proud to announce that they have acquired the license to re-create the characters from the 80′s Toy Line POWER LORDS.

“The Mayan year 13.0.0.0.0 has begun. As foretold in 669 AD by the famous prophesy carved into Monument 6 in the Mayan site of Tortuguero, this date signals the return of the “Bolon Yokte Ku” — The Nine Lords of Power. It is therefore, with great reverence, that the Four Horsemen of the Toypocalypse hereby proclaim the return of the Nine Power Lords and reveal the identity of a Tenth who dwells among us and has  the power to save us all.”

Four Horsemen Toy Design Studios are proud to announce the return of Power Lords: The Extra-Terrestrial Warriors action figure line.

It’s been 30 years since world-reknowned sci-fi artist Wayne Douglas Barlowe originally designed the ground-breaking Power Lords toy line released by Revell. Four Horsemen Toy Design have just acquired the Power Lords license and signed Wayne Barlowe as a creative consultant to help bring the Power Lords back in action figure form.

Getting to work with Barlowe on the much-anticipated return of Power Lords has been the culmination of a life-long dream for Four Horsemen co-founder Eric Treadaway. Four Horsemen Studios are currently hard at work creating the new Power Lords prototypes that will be revealed during the Power Lords-themed Toypocalypse 3 Art Exhibit occurring in New York at TT Underground Gallery in February during New York Toy Fair 2013.

That’s not all, the Horsemen will also be sponsoring a Fan Club based on this new toy line:

Why another website!? My first Blog here

Posted on: December 13, 2012
toy-lines-logo-300dpi

Well since according to Google no one is reading this website, I’ll post my first blog unedited.  Shouting the website’s name…

WHY!? Why another website devoted to toys?

My answer, “WHY NOT!”  It seems everyone with an affinity towards their particular hobby has some sort of website.  Some keep it updated while others let life intervene and they forget about it.  Some get lucky and they get followers that maybe they appreciate.  While they bask in the glory of doing something they enjoy and get special perks.  The rest of us are left with hoping that our idea will get made and then if it does we have to battle with other fans to get it or pay ridiculous high prices to get one.  (I’ll touch on this later.)

I have been collecting toys since as far back as I can remember.  I have my favorites and like everybody I have opinions on certain aspects of the industry and products.  This is my voice, my personal sounding board and hopefully I can get an audience together.  An audience where I can share my sounding board and they can be heard; whether they agree with me or not.

As for the perks, if I am fortunate enough to get any, I can promise you this, I will gladly share them.  If you want to contribute, let us know.  The worst we can say is “No” and if we say no, I’ll do my best to help you find a yes.

I know you all have your favorite sites that you visit often and that’s great, all I ask is that you give us a try and maybe someday we can strike a conversation about our favorite toys and/or cartoons.

Thanks for Looking,

Tom

Oh and don’t forget my partner in crime, Mr. Nostalgia who will delight you with his anecdotes on basically anything that you enjoyed yesterday and today.
